Privacy Policy for Quick Image

Last Updated: February 1, 2026

Overview

Quick Image is a Chrome extension designed to help designers, developers, and QA testers rapidly test image alternatives on webpages. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

Data Collection

Quick Image does NOT collect, transmit, or store any personal data, analytics, or telemetry.

All your images and data stay on your device. We cannot see your images, browsing history, or any other data.

Local Storage

Quick Image stores the following data locally on your device only:

  • Images you upload or capture - Stored locally in your browser
  • Image thumbnails - Small 80x80 previews stored in chrome.storage.local
  • Display preferences - Settings like display mode (overlay/replace), position, scale, and opacity
  • Site-specific configurations - Optional per-website image collections (if enabled in settings)

This data never leaves your computer. You can clear all stored data at any time through the extension's Settings panel.

Permissions Explanation

Quick Image requests the following Chrome permissions:

  • storage - Save your uploaded images and preferences locally in your browser
  • activeTab - Access the current webpage to overlay or replace images
  • clipboardRead - Allow you to paste images directly from your clipboard (Ctrl+V)
  • tabs - Manage extension state across different browser tabs
  • contextMenus - Enable right-click "Add to Quick Image collection" on page images
  • <all_urls> - Work on any webpage for maximum flexibility (required for overlay/replace functionality on all sites)
  • file://*/* - Optionally work on local HTML files opened in your browser

These permissions are used exclusively for the extension's core functionality - overlaying and replacing images on webpages. We do not use them for tracking, analytics, or data collection.

License Validation

The only network request Quick Image makes is to validate your license key. This request:

  • Sends only your license key to our server
  • Does not include any personal data, images, or browsing information
  • Is used solely to verify your purchase

No other data is ever transmitted. Your images and browsing data stay entirely on your device.

No Third-Party Services

Apart from license validation, Quick Image does not connect to any external services. There are:

  • No analytics (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.)
  • No crash reporting
  • No advertising networks
  • No cloud storage or sync

Your images and data are yours alone.

Transparency

Quick Image is built with privacy in mind. Our privacy practices are straightforward:

  • Only license validation requests are made (no other network activity)
  • No external scripts are loaded
  • All storage is local (browser storage only)

Children's Privacy

Quick Image does not collect any data from anyone, including children under 13. Since we don't collect data, COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) does not apply.
